Standing at 365 meters, Mount Manipur (formerly Mount Harriet) offers the highest vantage point in South Andaman. Take a 20-minute vehicle ferry from Chatham Jetty in Port Blair to Bambooflat Jetty, followed by a 12 km uphill forest road drive (approx. 25 mins) to the Mount Manipur summit.
In October 2021, the Government of India officially renamed Mount Harriet to Mount Manipur to pay tribute to Maharaja Kulachandra Singh and 22 Manipur freedom fighters who were exiled and imprisoned at Mount Harriet following the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.

The fastest way is taking a 20-minute vehicle ferry from Chatham Jetty to Bambooflat Jetty, followed by a 12 km (25-min) drive up Mount Manipur hill road. Alternatively, you can drive around by road via Ferrargunj (approx. 45 km).
Clean washrooms and rest gazebos are available at the summit. However, there are no restaurants or major food stalls, so visitors should carry packed snacks and water bottles.
During the monsoon season (June to September), land leeches can be found along wet forest hiking trails. Visitors are advised to wear full trousers, high socks, and carry salt or leech repellent.
